While it may be a year or so before we renovate our small galley kitchen, I have some free time now and I couldn't help but start pricing things out. When we were in the open-house stage, we noticed just how many small Manhattan apartment owners shell out big bucks for the fanciest appliances and counters which we won't do. Maybe I'm wrong but I figure we probably won't live in this apartment that long and potential buyers probably won't want to pay up for tip top appliances and taste specific amenities. These appliances are well-rated when ratings were available and look great.
Worth noting: Consumer Reports gives ABT, Independent stores, Pacific Sales and Lowe's top ratings for large appliances.
OVEN: All 30" gas.
This GE Profile is very similar to the model that got top marks from Consumer Reports but much less expensive at the Sears Outlet. It is self-cleaning which is a must. $900
The 16.5 Cubic Foot Frigidaire is the size of our current fridge and a great price. $503
DISHWASHERS: We currently have a 24" dishwasher but this may be a place where we could save space so I am considering all sizes. I believe all these dishwashers have similar models that are cabinet-ready as well.
This Bosch Ascenta Series 24" Dishwasher is top rated and I love the shiny black. $447 at Amazon.
This Fisher & Paykel 2-drawer model is also top rated by Consumer Reports and allow you to run 2 separate loads or just one small one which is perfect for 2 people. $1099
This Samsung gets top marks and is reasonably priced. $225 at Best Buy.
